Description

This course initiates the purpose and direction of student-teacher relationships to fully conceptualize teaching and learning in this context. Fundamental understanding of the building of relationships, communication practices, student teacher needs, strategies and planning for collaborative efforts, and recognition of professional teaching attributes will form the core of this course.

In addition to registering for the course itself on this site, you have the option to earn 15 CECH hours or you can sign up for one graduate credit ($40) through USD here: EDFN 592: Cooperating Teacher - 24SP-27229 (usd.edu) This link  works for cooperating teachers whose student teacher placement begins in January.  Those whose student teachers have split placements(fine arts, SPED, etc) may also register for the course; there is a condensed course schedule recommended for split placements.  The course grading period runs from January 15-May 3. The last day to register is January 24, 2024 for USD credit. After that date, only CECH will be available.

**Please note that while there are 32 modules, many modules can be completed in ten minutes or less. The total estimated time commitment for this course is 15 hours.

Helpful, easy, manageable and a great tool for reflection. It was an excellent course to take as a first-time teacher mentor.
